No, you shouldn’t spend a ton of money on the gloves, but buy quality gloves. So in stead of buying gloves for $10 or $20 every year, buy some good gloves that you can have for many years to come. Those gloves on the picture are from CK and cost about $75. But if you don’t live in a cold climate and don’t use gloves often, you can definitely avoid this item.

Yes, great points, Susan. I thought about putting both of those on the list, but decided not to put the trench because, as you also state, I just wrote a whole post about it, but maybe I should've put it on the list anyway. I decided not to put the coat on as I've experienced that lately coats have become a very central part of an outfit; a fashion statement. Just like we've seen on Blair Waldorf - the coats are not only there to keep us warm, but to tell a story. But I do agree that the coat is a classic and that everyone should have a solid, black coat they can pull out ten years from now and wear!

I definitely agree with this list. I think a good pair of jeans and a great watch are both essential items for anyones closet.

I agree! The Europeans dress this way. They don’t own as much clothing as Americans, but what they do own is fabulous. Don’t save wonderful items in your closet for that special day. Take them out NOW and wear them. My motto “Wear Your Favorite Clothes Everyday”. And buying designer items secondhand can be smart and thrifty. Then you can own the best AND have more!
