Brighten Your Wardrobe With Floral Prints

In 2010 fashion trends, I wrote about floral prints being one of the hottest trends and we are already seeing them taking over the spring fashion lines. I have not always been keen on wearing floral prints – they were hard to incorporate into an outfit without looking dated or like a hippie, I thought.

Lately, I have been seeing the most beautiful floral prints around and thinking of ways to bring them into my wardrobe and I have fallen in love so much that I have even bought a pair of floral printed tights! Now, if that doesn’t scream unconventional and strong flower-look, I don’t know what does!

How To Wear Florals

These beautiful summery floral prints really do bring sunshine into the wardrobe. They make you look fresh and happy no matter how you feel and that sends out great vibes! Floral prints can make any outfit look more young and trendy and this year it is not only about floral dresses, but floral everything!

  • Floral print dresses are a must-have – it’s a complete look and you don’t have to worry about accessorizing – the dress is an accessory on its own.
  • A floral cardigan can make any boring black outfit live up and look more trendy and fresh – wear a floral print cardigan to work over your usual black dress or blouse with some black pants in stead of a blazer.
  • Floral tights can freshen your wardrobe instantly and they are not at all costly. If you are not ready to throw on a lot of flowers with a floral dress, start slowly with some floral print tights. Wear them with a pencil skirt and a pretty blouse!
  • Floral accessories are also a good way of incorporating florals into your wardrobe. Especially floral print bangles are a good way to show off the floral trend! A floral scarf is also a great choice!
  • Floral shoes are a bold statement and a great choice if you want to stand out in a crowd. Now, there is a difference between floral print shoes – there are the flats (picture below) and regular floral shoes (picture above). While the flats can be worn by anyone and look great, to me, the regular shoes with a floral print, demand a distinct personal style to pull of.

When it comes to floral prints there are many choices in 2010. From dresses, skirts, blouses and jackets to shoes, belts, handbags and earrings… So be creative and create the floral look that is just right for you. Don’t go over the top – you don’t want to look like a garden – but don’t be afraid to try florals out either. They will make you look happy and fresh – and isn’t that what we want to radiate?

I love the flowers and the prints you displayed. Anthropologie has flowers everywhere — especially crocheted flowers on sweaters, hand made flowers on jewelry…very inspiring.
