Summer is approaching at a fast rate for most of us and we’re starting to feel the summer sun on our skin. The smell of the ocean and the cold drinks are nearly here and we’re slowly dreaming away to the wonderful beaches. We’ve been getting ready for this for a while and now is the time to go shopping!
This year I’ll be relaxing on Punta Rata in Croatia (voted no. 1 beach in Europe & no. 3 in the world by Forbes). Needless to say, I can’t wait to feel that sand between my toes, but before it’s time to hit the beach, I need to find a new bikini! The choices are many!
3 Types of Swimwear
Shopping for a bikini is not always an easy task. There are so many different patterns, colors, shapes and sizes to choose from and it can therefore be hard to find the perfect bikini that fits you well, looks good on you and you feel comfortable in. This year, these three shapes are dominating the swimwear stores!
Triangle Bikini
PRODUCT INFO: Silver – Striped – Floral – Dots
The triangle bikini will always have a place in the bikini section. It’s practical and it never goes out of style. This bikini is also of the sexy nature and the skinny straps don’t leave untanned spots on your body. These same straps are also accident-prone, so be careful not to moon someone coming out of the water!
Bandeau Bikini
PRODUCT INFO: Floral – Purple - Woven – Tie-Dye – Pixel – Striped
This is one of the more practical bikinis when it comes to tanning at least. The straps can easily be taken down (if there are any at all) which makes it easy for you to turn around, stand up, lay down and go swimming without having to worry about getting patterns on your body. This bikini is also sexy, (but what bikini isn’t, you say!), however it is more elegant than the triangle one, as it doesn’t reveal your chest just as much as the triangle does. This one flattens your chest, whereas the triangle one enhances it.
One Piece Bathing Suit
PRODUCT INFO: Purple – ZigZag – Striped Halterneck – Asymetric – Colorful Cut – See Through
One piece bathing suits are often seen as boring, matronly and old-fashioned. But this year the one-piece suits are cut in two, strapless or even see-through and have become very sexy and modern. Traditional one-piece suits are great if you don’t want to show off too much skin, want to hide your stomach or just want to be comfortable and ‘safe’. The downside is that you won’t get a great tan, which is perhaps not so downside-ish after all!
My Choice
I’m personally going with a bondeu bikini. It may not be the sexiest of the bunch, but it’s practical and elegant. I like the fact that I don’t costantly have to move the straps away in order to avoid patterns and I like the simplicity of it. Which one are you wearing this year? And where are you vacationing?

I’m quite flat-chested, so I don’t have the problems women with bigger busts have.
There’s a lovely H&M-bikini in pale yellow with pale pink flowers on it, suits also pale people, like me, haha.
I’m often more struggling to find the perfect colour than the right shape…

Good point about color. I often go with dark bikinis. I guess, even though I’m fairly pale during winter and naturally continue to be until I hit the beach for a few days, they go well on pale skin… I like navy blue too.

I LOVE interesting one-pieces, but would never wear (no matter how much sunblock I slather on, I still tan superfast and really odd tan lines are not an option). I like triangle bikinis best, although bandeau is cute too. Where did you find the patterned triangle bikini by the way?! Super adorable.
