Before traveling the first thing to do is check the weather! That way you will be prepared and packed accordingly. Deciding what to wear for a short city trip is even harder than prepping for a long one. If you’re anything like me, there’s always something else you want to take with you “just in case”.

While we in this post focus on what to wear during the day in a big city, here’s how you should pack for a vacation, so you don’t end up missing something, or brining too many things! Check out the packing post here.

So what about the shoes?

Since, it’s a city it’s important to take comfy clothes, especially shoes, as you’ll probably do some walking around and sightseeing. For a feminine, soft look I recommend using flats. No matter the outfit, they add some elegance to the ensemble. They take very little space inside your suitcase and there are different types like loafers or ballerinas, not to mention all the textures and colors. You could also try combining your day outfit with some wedge ankle boots, which are both comfortable and fashionable for a more rough and edgy look.

With some jackets and pants

Jackets are practical for every occasion; it can make your outfit more or less casual. Since, it’s a short trip pick a shorter type of jacket, like a jean jacket, a blazer or cardigan, it will take much less space. The great thing about them is you can wear a classic white t-shirt underneath. Pair it with some jeans or if you rather not use denim consider some leggings. They take no space at all; just roll them and put it inside one of your shoes to save room. Pick a basic color like black so that you can mix and match with your shirts and jacket.

And don’t forget the accessories

Add some accessories like a silk scarf. Use the same one every day just play with how you wear it. Try using it around your neck one day and as a belt the next.  Remember to pack some jewelry and even a belt. If you have some room left why not take a hat and don’t forget some sunglasses.
