here are many ways to accessorize an outfit; jewelry, hats, gloves, belts, patterned tights… and the waistcoat is one of them.

To me a waistcoat can do a lot to an outfit. It can make it more dressy and more fun, and with the right waistcoat, a more modern version of it, this otherwise masculine piece of clothing can make your outfit more feminine!

How To Wear It!

Wear it in 2010 pale spring colors for a feminine and fresh look. Put on some blush and pull your hair back and you are ready for any lunch-date, a shopping day with your girlfriends and so on!

For a more edgy, rock chick feel, choose darker colors and raw details. Don’t be afraid to mix edgy and soft cuts and materials – this will give you a great mixture of femininity and coolness!

I’ve chosen two rather new versions of the waistcoat, but if worn with the right accessories, a traditional waistcoat can be as stylish, feminine and modern as any other clothing item! Just look at Kate Moss’ outfit:

Little History Fact

The waistcoat is one of the few articles of clothing whose origin historians can date precisely. King Charles II of England, Scotland and Ireland introduced the waistcoat as a part of correct dress during the Restoration of the British monarchy. (Year 1600)

So what is a waistcoat? A vest? Maybe it’s the difference in language between the Americas and Europe?

These are definitely lovely.

I got one in the sale from H&M, it’s purple cotton material and I like it because everyone at college wears cardigans – it’s something different!
