New Trend Alert: Plastic Watches

by Milana

This is a guest post by the wonderfully sweet and stylish Alina, who loves dresses, shoes and caffeine! Check out her blog My Kingdom for a Dress.

Now that the temperature is getting higher and higher, the skirts and sleeves go up, so why not make your wrists the center of attention? Bracelets and cuffs are a great idea, but if you are more the practical type and don’t like the sound they make whenever you move, here’s the alternative: A watch.
Okay, this might sound like a no-brainer and quite boring since they don’t really make an outfit stand out.. but just you wait! I’m not talking about the usual golden or silver watches neither bedazzled nor plain leather ones: It’s all about colour this summer! And watches are, to no one’s surprise, not an exception! So I suggest choosing one of the following watches to give your outfits a pop of colour… or even match them with your nail polish!

Sophisticated Fun

These are for the more sophisticated and sporty women that just want to make a statement with the hue, not experiment with the actual shape:

Funky & Festive

Yes, plastic watches are back in style. A bit more funky and perfect for any festival. Who wouldn’t like to be -literally- in time with a watch like this?

So, what do you think? Colourful watches- Yay or Nay?

Love the concept — metal, leather and sweat, um, I mean, perspiration, just don’t go together. These are a perfect solution. That’s the practical side.

On the other side — they’re so cute!

Yeah, we love practical fashion!! Now, if we could just make super high heels practical… Thanks for the comment, Susan!

I can see this working in combination with beachwear, but for other occasions I must say I still prefer more traditional timepieces because of the elegance they add to any outfit. I certainly would have difficulties combining the plastic watch with the clothes in my wardrobe. It’s hard not to look ‘cheap’ with bright plastic around your wrist!

That’s true – it all depends on the rest of your outfit and how you mix stuff. I must say, this is a very modern and chic trend that is a little bit hard to incorporate in for instance a traditional wardrobe, but try it out, maybe it will give your outfit that extra something and make it more creative and fun!
