The Masculine Trend For Fall – 5 Steps

by Jolene - Fashion Columnist

Masculine clothing is undeniably seductive. Men look manlier in masculine clothing. Women, in turn, look sexier.  The concept is trendy but it’s not about to go out of style any time soon. However, the concept of men-inspired clothing on women is often lost in translation. Here are a few foolproof menswear items that you can count on to carry the look all the way through!

Strong-shoulder jacket

A strong shoulder is part of the silhouette of a strong man. A well-made jacket with lightly padded shoulders will give you the cut of a man. Just because there are a ton of black jackets in the market, don’t rush to purchase the first one you see. Shop around one that fits you like a glove and make you look like you hold the power of the world – on your shoulder!

Cool tone makeup

You want to look effortless, but not carefree. Ironically, if done right, makeup can enhance the manliness of your look. Opt for cool tones such as silver, blue and the more conventional black on eyes and nude or clear on lips. Use a matte bronzer to sharpen facial features . Keep in mind that your color palette should be like your clothes – minimal.

Hair tied in ponytail

Beauty should not be overlooked just because you want to aspire to look more like the opposite sex. Convenience is a man’s middle name so it’s no surprise that the easy, sleek ponytail will look good on top of the minimal clothing. Braids and a loose bun are appropriate alternatives, but avoid strong hints of girliness. Stay away from fancy hair accessories and stick with the basic bands and bobby pins.

Crisp white shirt

White shirts are a staple in a men’s closet. I dare you do peek into your dad’s or your roommates’ wardrobe and not find – at least – one hanging around. They are clean, simple and functional which are all the qualities of a conventional, 21st century man. Wear it with that jacket or a long slouchy cardigan. Tuck it under a pair of leather pants for that WOW factor.

Statement jewelry

Men’s jewelry compliments their clothes. They don’t introduce a new idea – they go hand in hand with the vibe they already have going on. That being said, strong, bold jewelry will pop out against your already cool exterior. Look out for boxy accessories that suggest attitude and confidence and stay out of no dainty pieces. Diamonds, however, are always an exception!
