She’s French, she’s British, she rocks a red lip like no one else, she has gorgeous hair and leopard leggings are a must-have item in her wardrobe. Anne is one of those people who has that something extra. She’s creative, unique, intelligent and all of that comes across on her blog, The Satirical Stylist. It’s funny, it’s satirical and at the same time very inspirational and full of fashion and beauty tips and tricks. And if that wasn’t enough, Anne makes the cutest, funniest and most entertaining YouTube videos! This stunning girl’s personality is just as lovely as her face and I am delighted to have this interview with her here on FSA! Enjoy!

You are currently living in Leicester (England). Can you share your top three of what the city has to offer?

Leicester is the city I grew up in, I moved away 10 years ago and have been living back their over the last year or so… This is a “temporary” situation. The city is small and fairly industrial, lacking in a cultural scene. I want to say really great things about the place, but at this stage in my life it isn’t offering too much! Except for a fantastic home base and a lovely family. The countryside surrounding the city is beautiful and there are lots of delicious pubs to drive out to.… Eat lots, then walk it off.

(Pic was taken in Bradgate Park, my favourite place to walk in Leicestershire. This includes most of my family apart from one of my brothers and my sister and me as I took it!)

Where would be your dream place to live?

New York, I lived there for a couple of years, I miss it and wish I was still there. Goddamn visa business!!

What made you decide to start blogging?

I started my first blog in 2009. I was learning to cope with the NY dating scene and my writing reflected this; it was quite scandalous. I began to feel guilty about my bitter/overly-open self and stopped typing. I missed blogging and began to write again March last year.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

At the minute I’m working freelance, so I’m at home a lot. Often I tend to not get ready properly until my working day is done, unless I’m moving the office to a café. It usually takes me about 30 minutes, 10 minutes on makeup, 10 minutes for showering and cleaning up and 10 minutes dawdling and pulling on clothes… I’m fairly quick as I like to save my morning time to fit in as much sleep as possible!

Name an item of clothing that would put you into a state – of – horror if you were FORCED to wear it. I’m talking out of the house… To work, meeting with friends on a date…

It would have to be a dress with a weighty base… Like a tutu style dress, a strapless one would be even worse. I’m very skinny, so a lot of fabric around the middle and top of my legs would look ridic. And strapless would accentuate my slight frame, but not in a good way. Make it pale pink and frilly and I WOULD NOT dare leave the house.

Favorite item of clothing in your wardrobe right now!

Ha this is easy! I recently invested in the most beautiful leather jacket from Acne. I love, love, love it.

5 items that MUST be in your handbag AT ALL TIMES?

Phone, Cigarettes, Lighter, Wallet and key. Hmmm sounds dull.

What’s your favorite movie of all time and why?

This is such a tough question, whoa! I am going to go with L’été meurtrier, a French film set in Provence (France) in the early 80s. An idyllic setting with a sinister storyline… I love Isabelle Adjani her portrayal of “Elle” is flawless. I first watched this when I was under 10 and have watched it many times since, every time I pick up on new details and it never disappoints me.

Who or what inspires you and why?

Big Cities inspire me, I love the buzz and varied environment. New York, London, Paris, Bangkok, these are all places where I come alive. High buildings, bright lights, fashion, anonymity, food, a merging of cultures, boutiques, cafes… New York is my fave, I love how it never sleeps and everything is at your doorstep.

(There are a lot of big cities that I have not yet explored but hope to one day, such as Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin, Tokyo, Shanghai, San Francisco and so on.)

Has reading a book ever made you cry? Which one and why?

I read a lot, as in everyday. I constantly have a book on the go and like to vary my reading between my fave genres. A lot of books have made me cry, I think one that really stands out is the Kite Runner, I read it at an emotional stage in life, so the reading experience was heightened… Total drams. The reason it really got to me was mainly as there was lots of focus on these young boys and it touched a cord as I have younger brothers and a nephew… Sigh.

Which celebrity would you like to swop wardrobes with and why?

Automatically Kate Moss springs to mind. I have long admired Kate’s style I love her anti-trend looks, she wears what she wants and her clothes are almost always spot on.

If your life was a song, what would the title be?

I wasn’t sure whether I was supposed to make up a title but have decided to go with “5 Years” by David Bowie, I feel that this song is a good match for me and my life as its dramatic, fanciful and exciting. Not that my day to day living is always this exciting but its had its moments and my head is mostly always buzzing with imaginations.

Share one of your fave pictures of all times and tell us why you picked it?

This picture is of my granddad Paul, it is very special to me. I carry it around with me in my wallet so I can peek a look at it every now and then. I love this pic mainly because I think he looks adorable and I like to think of him having been young and imagine how he would have been back then. He is no longer around but he was such an amazing man to have known. When I see this picture I don’t feel sad I feel happy.

Thank you!
